One of the unique systems in the game is the Gem power ups that augment the strength and powers of the player. In Street Fighter X Tekken, Namco is mainly only licensing the characters from Tekken to Capcom. Tekken X Street Fighter on the other hand, is a game actively being developed with Namco’s Tekken style of 3D fighting. It also involves projectile movements very unlike the Tekken style of gameplay that primarily involve special moves with no power projectiles or teleportation. However, since the game has been actively developed by Capcom, the gameplay features their more cartoon like 2D style of fighting. The game Street Fighter X Tekken is a direct partnership between Namco and Capcom. The object has a mysterious power about it that infuses any beings in conflict with immense power. The plot per say revolves around an object called Pandora. The single player mode has a story with a plot to it. The game features both multiplayer and Single player modes and this increases its replay quotient greatly. These dual tag team matches have a simple objective, knock out the opponents in the opposite force.

The game involves choosing two characters for each player and facing each other off to a fight to the finish. The characters are those from both the games, namely Tekken and Street Fighter. The game features cartoon like graphics that give it a unique look. It is a crossover fighting game for the Xbox which released in March 2012. The importance of SFxT, whether by its flaws or its features, is still relevant to past and present players in the fighting game community. The excitement and innovation that was showcased could still be present, if not dramatically increased if given an opportunity to return.Street Fighter X Tekken is in collaboration between Namco and Capcom.

SFxT still has a presence in EVO, Final Round, and other events as side-tournaments hosted by loyal fans of the game. The competition, currently rather small, was and is always fierce, specifically on the Xbox side where numerous online tournaments, such as the ones hosted by PxG, consisted of the deadly tournament players themselves. The community is insightful in terms of, through social media and YouTube, sharing substantial amounts of information as well as displaying their love of the game with various sparring sets and/or compilation videos of combos or tag concepts in the game (Cross Assault, Pandora, etc.). On a personal level, SFxT was the 1st Street Fighter game that I began to take serious casually as well as competitively and socially, where I have met and sparred with many strong players on both sides of PSN, including the current 3-time EVO champion, Esuta. This has led to many players and groups/clans having faith that this game has a possibility of returning. While SFxT is only marred by criticism of the gem concept, the DLC controversy, and, from personal experience, the (dis)advantages of Cross-Play, it was a fascinating game where two worlds met in a advanced gameplay environment compared to Street Fighter V. Recently, the FGC has experienced the return of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 to next-generation consoles and, to much surprise, the up-coming revival of Street Fighter 2 for the Nintendo Switch.

There has been increasing conversation from past and present players, including legendary fighters involved in SFV and the Capcom Pro Tour, reflecting on their experiences on SFxT and their wishes to play again. As this year marks the fifth-year anniversary since its release, I would like to send a mass invitation to help SFxT become remastered for next-generation consoles.

To this day since May of 2013, I represent this game on the PSN side (90% as a die-hard Vita player, 10% as a PS3 gameplay recorder and film-maker) as my goal is to establish/continue my personal legacy with two things: my only team of Law/Cole, and my love for Pandora. My name is Kelvin Smith (PSN: kev302smith), and I stand to say that Street Fighter X Tekken has personally changed my life as a member of the fighting game community.
